At this time, you were busy preparing for the first semester of Grade 12 and were quite uncertain about applying for scholarships. You raised a question to us, through friends, believing that Australia does not value personal essays as much as the U.S., but rather focuses on grades. We shared a few insights with you:<\/p>\n

    • Sydney is a prestigious and competitive university in Australia. Even native Australians are not guaranteed admission, let alone scholarships.<\/li>\n
    • While your academic and extracurricular achievements are outstanding, imagine that each year not just a few dozen students apply to the university, but possibly hundreds or thousands due to its size and the popularity of the IT field in recent years. How can you know how your application compares to others, and whether yours stands out as a top priority?<\/li>\n
    • Suppose this year Sydney sets a criterion to select only 100 students for the scholarship in your field of study, and they have identified around 120 students with similar academic and extracurricular records to yours. How do they choose the top 100 and leave out the remaining 20? Why did they choose you for the scholarship, even though you are not from a low-income family? Perhaps the only distinguishing factor is your essay, where you demonstrate your passion for learning, your personal growth journey, and your continuous effort to develop yourself over the years. It is where you persuade the admissions committee that if they award you this prestigious scholarship, you will bring certain benefits to the university and prove your worthiness.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      During the 83-day learning period, after numerous revisions, you have finally completed your scholarship essay. Here are the three scholarship essay prompts and Nh\u1eadt Minh's responses:<\/p>\n

      Question 1\ufe0f\u20e3: Introduce yourself (limit 200 words)<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

      Growing up, I was encouraged by my parents to pursue a medical career, but I realized that my true passion lies in developing innovative medical devices. This passion stemmed from an injury my uncle sustained in a car accident. Upon seeing the bulky and uncomfortable robotic medical gloves available on the market, I was inspired to design a better solution.<\/span><\/p>\n

      In 2022, I participated in a healthcare technology competition and spent six months researching coding and sensors to develop a more effective and comfortable robotic medical glove. This device uses sensors to mimic the movements of a healthy hand and replicate them on the injured hand, expediting the patient's recovery process. The glove is made from premium fabric material, safe, non-irritating, and prevents further injuries.<\/span><\/p>\n

      Winning the competition was a joy, and the most valuable reward was witnessing my uncle's functional recovery progress by 50% within just three months of using the device I designed. This experience reinforced my love for coding and motivated me to pursue my passion for developing medical devices that improve patients' lives.<\/span><\/p>\n

      Question 2\ufe0f\u20e3: Share what inspired you to apply to the University of Sydney (limit 200 words)<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

      As a passionate programmer, I aspire to learn from renowned professors at the University of Sydney\u2014one of the world's top universities. My passion for this field originated from a technology competition focusing on forest protection, where I discovered the disparity in wildfire prevention methods between Australia and Vietnam. While Australia has made significant strides in wildfire prevention through technology investments, Vietnam is still experiencing an increase in wildfires due to outdated conservation methods. This prompted me to design a wildfire detection system using sensors to identify heat spots near fires and swiftly transmit data to our application for timely intervention by authorities.<\/span><\/p>\n

      During my research, I delved into numerous research materials with invaluable information from the University of Sydney on climate change, environmental disasters, and related topics. I am impressed by the university's reputation as Australia's oldest and best technology teaching institution, as well as its location in a tech hub city with over 2000 tech companies. If given the opportunity to study in Sydney, I hope to gain a deeper understanding of the root causes of wildfires and develop new prevention techniques while contributing to global efforts to prevent and mitigate environmental disasters.<\/span><\/p>\n

      If given the opportunity to study at the University of Sydney, I hope to learn and collaborate with world-renowned professors and researchers in the field of technology to deepen my understanding of the latest techniques and technologies. I believe this will enable me to enhance awareness and experience for my current projects, making them more effective and accessible.<\/span><\/p>\n

      My previous projects, such as the robotic medical glove and wildfire detection device, have shown promising results in improving patients' lives and preventing wildfires. However, there is still much to learn and improve. Currently, I am particularly interested in designing a program capable of analyzing data to provide personalized recovery regimens and reduce the deployment costs of wildfire detection devices, allowing for broader implementation and impact.<\/span><\/p>\n

      Ultimately, my goal is to create impactful technologies to improve the lives of everyone, especially the vulnerable. I believe that studying at the University of Sydney will be a crucial step towards achieving this goal as it will provide me with the necessary skills, knowledge, and resources to contribute to the fields of healthcare technology and environmental protection.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
